We
want your float trip to be as fun and safe as possible. We recommend the following
safety tips:
- Beginners
should ask for canoe & paddle instructions.
- Beginners
should take a short trip.
- Beginners
should not take young children the first time out.
- Always
wear old shoes for wading. Flip flops are not recommended.
- Bring
along a dry change of clothing.
- Bring
along water, gatoraide, etc.
- Carry
food and clothing in water-tight container and tied to your canoe. Anything
that is not tied down may be lost!
- Wear
sunscreen
- If
you wear glasses, you should wear a glasses strap.
- Allow
sufficient time for swimming, picnicking, resting.
- Keep
off and respect private property.
- Respect
fishermen and do not cross their lines.
- Use
litter bags and only leave your foot tracks behind.
- Lock
valuables in car out of sight.
- Wear
your life jacket at all times.
- Do
not grab other canoes.
- Do
not tie canoes together.
- No
horseplay.
- Respect others and watch your language, there are many kids on our
rivers.
- No nudity, again, there are many kids on the river.
- Do
not dive! Water levels are constantly changing.
- When
fishing, wade only where you can see the bottom and be extra careful
on slippery or loose stone banks.
